article New York — President Trump is taking the White House cybersecurity summit to a whole new level, as he is planning to invite industry and government leaders to share the latest developments in the cyberwarfare landscape.
Trump’s plan for cybersecurity will include a briefing on the threat of a cyberattack on a critical infrastructure system, according to a White House official.
Trump is expected to call for the creation of a working group that will provide the President with information on the vulnerabilities of critical infrastructure systems.
Trump will also be joined by U.S. senators from both parties who are leading a bipartisan effort to get cybersecurity into the 21st century.
The White House said the cybersecurity summit will include officials from the U.K. and Germany, which has been under the microscope following the discovery of a series of sophisticated cyberattacks targeting its financial systems.
The administration is also planning to host a cybersecurity summit in Washington with leaders of several nations and business leaders to discuss ways to improve cybersecurity.
Trump and White House chief technology officer Peter Thiel will participate in the summit, the official said.
The Trump administration is in the midst of reviewing cybersecurity efforts across the government.
Last month, Trump ordered the Department of Homeland Security to review its cybersecurity efforts.
