How to avoid a shutdown of the government over healthcare bill
Posted On July 16, 2021
The Senate has passed a sweeping healthcare bill that’s expected to pass by a wide margin, but Republicans are still not ready to let the Senate vote on the legislation.
The Senate’s healthcare bill, which passed last month, includes the biggest tax cut in the country since President Trump promised to bring it to the American people in his first 100 days.
The measure has been the subject of intense criticism from Democrats who argue that the tax cuts won’t come anywhere close to offsetting the $2.5 trillion cost of the bill, especially for the poor.
It’s unclear how Republicans plan to address that issue.
The Senate is expected to vote on a final version of the legislation next week.
